I stared at the screen.

“Did you hear me, Lo?”

“What?” I asked, slowly looking up from my phone.

“I was talking about Basilica’s new song,” Ryan said, looking slightly hurt. “I think it’s the best song we’ve ever written. It’s very different from our normal stuff and a bit out of genre but I think you’ll like it.”

Wolf and Clay slammed the minibus’s doors, and I looked back out the window. “Yeah, I’m sure I’ll like it too,” I answered, staring after Wolf’s minibus even as they pulled away. “Don’t I always?”

I barely listened to Ryan and Cairo as they went on about Babble and new songs and what other bands were playing. All I could think about was how remarkable of a coincidence it was that Wolf returned from Woolridge Park around the same time MV texted me that the package had been collected.
